Causes of Spindle Cell Sarcoma
Spindle Cell Sarcoma is one of the rarest forms of cancer. It is actually a tumor that appears in the soft, connective tissues which surround and support the organs and the other structures of the body. The Spindle Cell Sarcoma is a soft tissue sarcoma which has cells in the shape of spindle, with an elongated body.
As previously mentioned, this is a rare form of cancer, in comparison with other more common forms. This is due to the fact that the rate of replication of connective tissues is slow enough under normal circumstances. Although it is not exactly known which causes can determine the apparition of Spindle Cell Sarcoma, researchers thought of some causes that may be possible. Some of the main possible causes that determine the apparition of this form of cancer are genetic predisposition, trauma, inflammation and exposure to radiation or certain chemicals. All these causes are able to stimulate the tissues to divide more rapidly than usual and so the cancer can appear.
The genetic predisposition is one of the main possible causes of Spindle Cell Sarcoma. Tumor suppressor genes, oncogene and other cellular genetic defects are thought to be in relation with the apparition of this form of cancer. The diagnosis can be done through genetic testing.
Another cause that can lead to this cancer is the irradiation. This means that if tissues have already been irradiated for other types of cancer, they can afterwards develop this form of cancer. Also, the radiation can determine certain genetic mutations, which can lead to uncontrolled cell division.
Certain environmental and industrial chemicals are thought to be a cause of the development of the Spindle Cell Sarcoma. Some of these chemicals include arsenic and vinyl chloride. In what regards the trauma as a cause, it has not been yet demonstrated that this can be a cause, but it is thought that the inflammation in the injured tissues can lead to apparition of this tumor. When the injured tissue is examined after suffering a trauma, it is possible to diagnose this tumor. Infection is also thought to be a cause that leads to Spindle Cell Sarcoma.
Due to the fact that this is a rather rare form of cancer, researchers still try to get to know more things about it. The specialists are not yet sure about the causes of Spindle Cell Sarcoma, but they constantly try to find out everything possible about it. As in any other form of cancer, it is important to try to maintain healthy by all means, by following a healthy diet and lifestyle and by avoiding traumas and injuries as much as possible.
Also, it is recommended that as soon as you feel any unusual symptoms, such as fatigue, for example, go to see your doctor and have an examination to see whether you suffer of this illness or not. It is rather difficult to determine the apparition of this disease, so it is important to always pay attention to your overall health, as well as have annual visits to your doctor.
